Community News: CALLING ALL ARTISTS, PERFORMERS AND PURVEYORS OF WONDERMENT – FIRST FRIDAY LAS VEGAS WANTS YOU

Local Groups and Individuals Encouraged to Submit Artistic Ideas Expanding the Awe and Magic of “Wonderland” on August 1 and Compete for $10,000 Art Commission Prize 

First Friday Las Vegas, the largest arts and culture festival in the Western United States, announces a call for all artists and performers to submit proposals to contribute to the next event on Friday, August 1.  First Friday is looking for whimsical, magical and wondrous installations with a nod to a variety of artists like Frida Kahlo, Salvador Dali and Joan Miro for “Wonderland” which explores scope, fantasy, surrealism and all things that inspire awe and wonder.

Artists of all types are encouraged to apply with a detailed description of their “Wonderland” concept.  Submissions must be made by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, July 10 and contain a full written description of the concept accompanied by sketches, illustrations, dimensions, description of materials and all operating requirements.  Submissions are accepted by First Friday Las Vegas through the following methods: 

  • In person at the First Friday offices above The Beat Coffee Shop at 520 Fremont St. Las Vegas, NV 89101
  • By mail to First Friday Las Vegas 520 E. Fremont St., Las Vegas, NV 89101
  • Electronically at submissions@firstfridaylasvegas.com with a file size limit of approximately 7MB

Submissions must also include the full name of main contact, secondary contact, phone numbers, emails and preferred method of communication.  Artists selected to participate in “Wonderland” will be notified no later than Monday, July 14 and deadline for final specifications, plans and requirements will be due no later than Friday, July 25. 

All submissions must be about wonder in its many forms and suitable for all ages.  “Alice in Wonderland” themes are not required but welcome.  All submissions must fit onto a 20’ x 20’ paved space on Casino Center Drive in the epicenter of First Friday Las Vegas.  All approved submissions must be able to be executed, built, delivered and installed by 3:30 p.m. Friday, August 1 and be able to be broken down and removed no later than 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 2.  

The talented individuals or groups selected will have their work displayed at First Friday and will be eligible for a grand prize of a $10,000 commission for a subsequent work or performance to be completed specifically for First Friday Las Vegas.  Winner(s) will be announced on Friday, August 8. 

First Friday Las Vegas reserves the right to relocate, modify or adjust any final installment should event circumstances require.  Every effort will be made to maintain the artistic values and integrity of the installation.  All submissions must be original or a work that may be derivative from work in the public domain or is allowed under US Copyright law (refer to the Unites States Patent & Trademark Office for more information); if performing, that you have or have obtained the legal right to perform your work. For a full request for proposal (RFP), additional rules and regulations, please visitwww.FirstFridayLasVegas.com
